Warehouse renovation and conversion for new tenant Tesla
Summit Design + Build, LLC recently completed the renovation and conversion of an existing 23,000 sq. ft., two story warehouse facility into a multi-tenant commercial building on a 2 acre site at 1200 Old Skokie Road in Highland Park, IL. TEF Highland Park LLC is the owner/developer of the project.
According to David A. Brown, project manager leading the project team for Summit Design + Build, the project encompassed an entirely redesigned space including updated bathrooms, the installation new MEP systems and the creation of a 10,000 sq. ft. warm shell for Tesla Motors Inc.’s new sales and service center on the first floor. A new 2,000 amp electrical service was also installed for Tesla’s new state of the art supercharging stations now located at the south end of the building. The second phase of the project included the demolition and interior build-out for Bystol Performance Center, a 13,000 sq. ft. personal training facility on the second floor complete with new showers & bathrooms; rubber, turf and vinyl plank flooring; and a new stair and entrance to the facility from first floor. Phase three of the project which will be completed in spring 2014 involves extensive work to the façade of the building as well as a new 67 stall parking lot with full detention pond.
Will Suckrow, Superintendent of Summit Design + Build, was responsible for the on-site construction of 1200 Old Skokie Road. Sullivan Goulette Wilson, LTD. provided architectural services. Cartland Kraus Engineering was the MEP engineer for the project.
