General contractor, Summit Design + Build recently started work on two renovation projects in Key Largo and Tampa, Fla.
Firm makes headway on renovations at first projects in Florida
TAMPA – The inaugural projects are the first for the firm which opened as the second office of Chicago-based Summit Design + Build in 2017.
The first project, Ocean Pointe Suites in Key Largo, Fla., includes mold remediation and reconstruction of 240 units located in five separate buildings affected by Hurricane Irma. The five buildings which total just over 250,000 square feet will have updated common areas and repaired envelopes when completed. The scope of work also includes new landscaping, a new pier with gazebo, swimming pool, tennis courts, remote cafe and bar building, and the dredging and reconstruction of the marina which accommodates up to 12 vessels. The entire property will also be upgraded with the latest internet and phone technology.
Similar to Ocean Pointe, Summit Design + Build’s second Florida project includes the remediation and reconstruction of an industrial building west of Tampa, which sustained damage from a fire. The project, which is broken down into 16,000 square feet of industrial space and 6,000 square feet of office space, includes structural steel work in the damaged areas, the replacement of the entire roofing system, electrical repairs, all new light fixtures, complete HVAC system and duct work replacement, and ADA bathroom updates. The project is being completed in multiple phases to accommodate the operations of the tenant and owner during the construction process.
