Summit Design + Build, LLC has recently completed Brooklyn Boulders first indoor rock climbing facility at 100 S. Morgan in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
Brooklyn Boulders (BKB) designs, builds and operates hybrid rock climbing facilities anchored by the premise that physicality stimulates innovation and creativity. BKB Chicago offers progressive climbing and fitness experiences while providing an unconventional platform to bring the arts, music, culture, and entrepreneurial communities together. This marks the company’s third gym overall and first in the Midwest. BKB’s other locations include Brooklyn, NY and Somerville, MA.
The new 25,000 sq. ft. facility required the extensive renovation and build-out of an existing building which was formerly the home of Presbytery of Chicago. The project included the removal of the existing 25 ft. high roof and the construction of a new 55 ft. high addition in order to accommodate a mezzanine and climbing walls that span from floor to ceiling in the south building. The north building, which still bears the Chicago Presbytery stone monument, includes climbing terrain, shared office space, fitness studio, event space and café. Other amenities include locker rooms, showers and a customer lounge. The project was designed by Chris Ryan the Chief Development Office of Brooklyn Boulders Chicago in conjunction with the Massachusetts based Arrowstreet Architecture and Design.
