CHICAGO – Chicago general contractor, Summit Design + Build, LLC, recently welcomed Ken Swartz as the firm’s new vice president. Swartz joins Summit Design + Build after tenures with some of the nation’s top contractors and with over 35 years of industry experience.
As vice president, Swartz will assist in managing the overall operations of the firm including project management and field operations, and will review and improve internal operations including human resources, billing and cash flow, and contract review. He will also be responsible for formulating a long term company growth plan including the firm’s expansion out-of-state and continued growth in Tampa, Florida.
Swartz began his career with one of the nation’s largest contractors, Walsh Construction, starting as a project manager for the Miami office before relocating to Chicago and then to Detroit. He has managed projects across a multitude of markets including aviation, institutional, healthcare, industrial and commercial, and served in a variety of roles including regional vice president where he established and grew the Detroit regional office. He most recently held the position of General Manager of Michigan Operations at Rudolph Libbe, Inc., where he restructured and grew the Michigan regional office. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.
