Renovations will refresh existing spaces and add modern amenities
CHICAGO – Chicago general contractor, Summit Design + Build, LLC, recently began work at 5200 N. Sheridan Road, one of two multi-family renovations with developer Spirit Bascom Ventures, LLC (“Spirit Bascom”). Summit was also awarded a contract for additional work at 6807 N. Sheridan Road. The buildings are located in Chicago’s Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods, with close proximity to the “L” red line and Loyola University.
5200 N. Sheridan, also known as The Edison, is an 8-story apartment building originally built in the 1930’s. The renovation of the property will see the demolition and remodel of the first floor lobby to create a new floor plan plus the addition of new tenant amenity spaces including a fitness center, media room, bike room and dog wash. The building’s corridors and stairwells on floors two through eight will also be upgraded. All work will be completed while the building is fully occupied.
“We’re excited to be working with Spirit Bascom on some of their first projects here in Chicago,” said Brian Sundermann, Senior Project Manager, Summit Design + Build. “We know this kind of work well and it is becoming more and more common as young renters look for spaces with amenities like those we are introducing at The Edison and 6807 N. Sheridan.”
Similar to 5200 N. Sheridan, 6807 N. Sheridan will undergo renovations to upgrade the first floor lobby and leasing office, add a second floor fitness center and a 10th floor exterior roof deck and interior lounge. The building’s corridors and stairwells will also be renovated with upgraded finishes. Work is expected to begin late this fall and will be completed while the building is fully occupied.
Chicago-based SPACE Architects + Planners is the serving as the project architect for both 5200 N. Sheridan and 6807 N. Sheridan.
